Physical,
psychological and sexual abuse of children continues to be a reality in
Mozambican society. The number of vulnerable children living in shelters is
estimated at around 3,000, and as a consequence, many of them escape from the
community and the home of their families, and are eventually housed in shelters
for vulnerable and in conflict with the law. However, due to lack of minimum
operating conditions, many of these centers are closed, hence the growth in
terms of the number of children in and on the street.
